Royston suites

Superior room upgrades offer an extra level of comfort over and above our standard rooms.

These suites have a northerly aspect and are larger than our standard rooms, each with fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, full Sky television and broadband internet. They also feature inside/outside living with a large private deck area.

Suites incur an additional charge although many medical insurance policies will cover this in whole or in part. Patients covered by ACC may elect to pay a surcharge to enjoy the special comfort provided by having a suite.

If you would like to avail yourself of a suite, please contact your Surgeon or our Admissions Co-ordinator who will be able to arrange this for you.

Ancillary services

Comprehensive ancillary services are available within the Royston Centre.

Radiology services are provided by TRG Imaging (previously Hawke’s Bay Radiology) and Physiotherapy services are provided by Focus Health.

Cardiologist Dr Richard Luke has his private practice in the Centre also.

Communications

Family and friends can phone you by dialing (06) 873 1111 Extn: 0. Our receptionist will transfer calls directly to your room.

Patients and visitors are asked to check with nursing staff regarding the use of cell phones within the hospital as these can interfere with calibrated medical equipment.

Complimentary wireless internet access is available for all Royston patients. To access this network, just ask your nurse for your wireless coupon, which contains access instructions and your user password. This coupon will enable access to the internet for the duration of your stay. Administration and IT staff are available to assist with any technical difficulties, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Fax facilities are available at reception.

If you bring computer equipment, cellphones or other electronic devices into the hospital please be aware that Royston cannot take responsibility for their safe keeping.

Meals

Inpatients:
Meal times are: Breakfast – 8:00am, Lunch - 12 noon, Dinner – 5:30pm.
In addition, you will be offered morning and afternoon tea and supper.

Our menu endeavours to cater for a variety of tastes and dietary needs. However, if nothing appeals, please ask for an alternative. If you have any particular dietary needs please discuss these with your nurse. Our food services staff will endeavour to ensure that any special requests are met. 

Visitors:
Reasonably priced meals can be ordered from the receptionist and a complimentary tea and coffee facility is available in the reception foyer.

Parent or caregiver

Arrangements may be made for a parent or caregiver of a patient who requires additional non-medical care, to be accommodated at the hospital. Please discuss your requirements with the Theatre Bookings Co-ordinator or Ward Team Leader prior to admission. Charges may apply.

Physiotherapy

Your specialist and nursing staff will discuss with you the need for any physiotherapy. While you are free to make arrangements with any physiotherapist of your choice, Royston Hospital does receive an excellent service from the on-site physiotherapists at Focus Health. Located in the Royston Centre, Focus Health is well placed to meet the needs of patients and they will be happy to continue to provide service after discharge.

Spiritual, cultural and interpreter services

Please let us know if you have any spiritual or cultural needs e.g. religious, dietary, personal beliefs, language support etc.

You are welcome to have your body parts/tissue returned to you. Staff are happy to discuss this with you and provide advice on collection procedures.

If the services of an interpreter are required, please let us know well in advance of your admission to ensure that this is arranged. There is a cost for this service.

Royston Hospital welcomes all feedback as a means of identifying areas where we can improve and confirming where we are doing well. Aftercare

Mobility Equipment

Royston Hospital has a variety of mobility equipment for hire or purchase (e.g. crutches and walking frames).

Occupational Therapy

If you require the services of an occupational therapist, a referral will be sent prior to your admission and the therapist may contact you to discuss your home equipment needs (e.g. raised toilet seat, shower stool, etc). For some types of surgery it is strongly recommended that this service is used. There may be a cost involved dependent on your health provider, or if you are paying personally. The occupational therapist can inform you of this.
